Shreya Ghoshal is an Indian playback singer, who is most popular in Hindi film industry. She also sings for other language movies like Telugu, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, and Tamil. She has bagged several awards which includes four National Film Awards, seven Filmfare Awards South. She first sang for the film “Devdas”, for which she has won the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer, a Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer, and a Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent. She has also featured three times in Forbes list of the top 100 celebrities of India.
Shreya Ghoshal was born on 12 March 1984 in Berhampore, West Bengal, India. Later shifted to Rawatbhata near Kota, Rajasthan. She has studied upto eighth in Atomic Energy Central School, Rawatbhata. Then shifted to Mumbai and continued her education at the same school but in Anushaktinagar. She joined the Atomic Energy Junior College to study science but discontinued and enrolled for arts with English at the SIES College at Sion, Mumbai. Just at the age of 6 years Shreya was trained in Hindustan Classical Gharana of music. She was trained in playback singing for about 18 months and then continued her classical music training in Mumbai.

Shreya Ghoshal got married on 5 February 2015 to her long-time boyfriend, Shiladitya Mukhopadhyaya in a traditional Bengali ceremony. He is the founder of hipcask.com. Their marriage was a private affair attended only by close family and friends.
Ghoshal has started her career in 1998 by recording an albums in Indian regional languages, mainly Bengali albums. Her first studio album was “Bendhechhi Beena”. She has also recorded several devotional songs. Her talent was first recognized by famous director Sanjay Leela Bhansali during her Special episode of Sa Re Ga Ma. Then she got her singing break with the super hit film Devdas. Shreya was just 16 years when she recorded her first song for the film, “Bairi Piya”. Later she rose high in peaks and has continued a successful career till date.
Since then she has sung for several films like Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., Shart: The Challenge, Tujhe Meri Kasam, Julie Ganapathi, Thoda Tum Badlo Thoda Hum and Desh Devi Maa Ashapura. Her song “Agar Tum Mil Jao”, has occupied a place in Evergreen Romantic Hits album. Apart from bollywood, she also sang for several South Indian films. In 2010, she sang for the English independent film When Harry Tries to Marry.
Shreya Ghoshal was born into a Bengali Hindu family. Her father Bishwajit Ghoshal is an electrical engineer and works for the Nuclear Power Corporation of India. Her mother Sarmistha Ghoshal, is a post-graduate literature. She has one brother Soumyadeep Ghoshal, who is seven years younger to her. In 1997, her father was transferred to the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre Mumbai. There she has continued her studies and singing career.
Shreya Ghoshal is an amazing singer and down to earth in nature. She loves to be simple and is very kind hearted person. Even her image in bollywood is a very calm and pleasant girl. She was also honored from the U.S. state of Ohio, where governor Ted Strickland declared 26 June as “Shreya Ghoshal Day”.
